Job Description
The Embassy of Jordan in Japan is seeking a full-time Economic and Trade Affairs Officer. The selected candidate will be responsible for expanding the Embassy’s outreach to Japanese public and private sector entities, identifying key stakeholders in Japan’s economic and trade landscape, and supporting the Embassy’s efforts to promote Jordan’s business environment. The ideal candidate should be highly motivated, detail-oriented, and have strong communication and analytical skills.

Duties
- Expand the Embassy’s outreach to Japanese economic and business entities
- Monitor and summarize daily economic developments in Japan
- Identify business opportunities and relevant Japanese market trends
- Promote Jordan’s key economic sectors, investment incentives, and trade environment to Japanese counterparts
- Prepare and schedule meetings with economic stakeholders for Embassy diplomats
- Assist in organizing trade and investment related events and briefings
- Support Jordanian companies in understanding Japan’s import/export regulations and procedures
- Assist Japanese companies seeking to explore trade and investment opportunities in Jordan
- Draft business correspondence and communications in Japanese and English
- Develop reports, briefings, and presentations as required
- Perform other administrative and clerical tasks as assigned by Embassy
Requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Japanese and English
- Proficiency in business writing and presentation preparation
- 2–3 years of experience in international business, trade promotion, or a related field
- Familiarity with import/export procedures, regulations, and international trade concepts
- Strong organizational and research skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher in international business, economics, or a related field
- Knowledge of the Jordanian economic environment is not required, but willingness to learn is expected
Important note
Candidates selected for an interview are strongly encouraged to review Jordan’s Economic Modernization Vision in advance, as familiarity with its key priorities and objectives will be a plus during the selection process. In addition to general economic awareness, applicants are expected to demonstrate a deep understanding of the Japanese economy, particularly in areas such as trade and investment trends, as well as import/export regulations. The Embassy values candidates who show a clear readiness to engage with Jordan’s economic opportunities and its potential relevance to the Japanese market.
