Prime Minister Dr. Bisher Al Khasawneh Meets with Japan’s Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry, Mr. SAITO Ken

Tokyo, Monday February 19, 2024 : Prime Minister Al Khasawneh met on Monday February 19, 2024 with Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry, Mr. SAITO Ken, to discuss avenues for fostering bilateral cooperation and development.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Al Khasawneh underscored the vast potential for expanding economic and trade collaboration between Jordan and Japan.  Highlighting Jordan’s strategic geographical position, Al Khasawneh emphasized the importance of Jordan as a gateway to tap into regional and global markets.

A key topic of discussion was Jordan’s keen interest in participating in the Osaka Expo 2025 in Japan. Prime Minister Al-Khasawneh viewed this as an invaluable opportunity for fostering deeper bilateral connections and boosting trade exchanges.  Commending the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry for its pivotal role in organizing the Jordanian-Japanese Business Forum in Amman last year, Prime Minister Al-Khasawneh proposed the potential organization of a Jordanian-Japanese investment forum in the near future.

Minister SAITO Ken reiterated Japan’s readiness to strengthen economic and trade cooperation with Jordan. Minister SAITO emphasized the robust strategic partnership between Jordan and Japan as a solid foundation for broadening collaboration across various sectors.

Both expressed mutual interest in exploring opportunities in vital sectors such as green energy, information technology, and mining, further cementing the pathway for fruitful bilateral relations.

The meeting was  attended by Ambassador of Jordan to Japan, Lina Annab, and Ministers of Digital Economy, Entrepreneurship, Investment, Kholoud Al-Saqqaf, Planning, and International Cooperation, Zeina Touqan.

Prime Minister Dr. Bisher Al-Khasawneh accompanied by an official delegation including Ministers of Digital Economy, Entrepreneurship Mr. Ahmad Al Hanandeh, Minister of Investment, Ms. Kholoud Al-Saqqaf, Minister of Planning, and International Cooperation, Ms. Zeina Touqan, are on an official visit to #Japan that started on February 15 until February 19th, 2024.  The visit is intended for discussions with Japan Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and the cabinet ministers and senior officials on bilateral relations, and ways to support and enhance them in all fields.  The year 2024 marks the 70th anniversary on the establishment of diplomatic relations between Jordan and Japan.

التقى رئيس الوزراء مع وزير الاقتصاد والتجارة والصناعة سايتو كين وبحث معه سبل تعزيز علاقات التعاون المشترك في المجالات الاقتصادية والتنموية. وأكد رئيس الوزراء وجود مجالات واسعة لزيادة التعاون الاقتصادي والتجاري بين البلدين لافتاً إلى أن موقع الأردن الجغرافي يمكن أن يكون بوابة للتعاون في الدخول إلى أسواق المنطقة. كما أكد الخصاونة اهتمام الأردن بالمشاركة في معرض أوساكا إكسبو 2025 في اليابان الذي تشكل فرصة للتشبيك والعلاقات بين البلدين وتعزيز التبادلات التجارية. وثمّن الخصاونة دور وزارة الاقتصاد والتجارة والصناعة اليابانية بعقد منتدى الأعمال الأردني الياباني في عمان العام الماضي لافتاً إلى إمكانية تنظيم منتدى استثماري أردني ياباني في المستقبل القريب.وأعرب الخصاونة عن الشكر لوزارة الاقتصاد والتجارة والصناعة اليابانية على جهود وبرامج الوكالة اليابانية للتعاون الدولي “جايكا” في الأردن مؤكداً العمل وبشكل وثيق على تطوير علاقات التعاون مع اليابان في مجالات الصناعة والتجارة وتسهيل الإجراءات المتعلقة بذلك. كما شكر الخصاونة اليابان على دعم جهود الأردن التنموية والإصلاحية والدعم الياباني المهم لبرامج الأردن الوطنية مع صندوق النقد الدولي.وأكد في هذا الصدد أن الأردن يوفر فرصاً استثمارية في العديد من القطاعات الحيوية سيما الطاقة الخضراء وتكنولوجيا المعلومات والتعدين .بدوره أكد وزير وزير الاقتصاد والتجارة والصناعة الياباني الحرص على تعزيز مجالات التعاون الاقتصادي والتجاري مع الأردن.  ولفت إلى أن علاقات الشراكة الاستراتيجية بين البلدين توفر الأرضية المناسبة لفتح مجالات أوسع للتعاون بين البلدين الصديقين.
