On Friday, May 10, 2024, the Embassy hosted a group of 11 students and their supervisor, Ms. Yuko Shiratori, from Shibuya Kyōiku Gakuen. Ambassador Lina Annab warmly welcomed the group and engaged them in an enlightening discussion about the role of diplomacy and the duties of diplomats.

During the visit, the students were introduced to the rich culture and heritage of Jordan. Embassy team members including Counselor Ms. Salma El Taweel were present to assist and interact with the students, ensuring a warm and informative experience. The gathering also included a lunch, where the guests were treated to a variety of traditional Jordanian dishes, providing a taste of Jordanian hospitality.

Ambassador Annab shared insights on the importance of embassies and the crucial role diplomats play in fostering international relations. She explained how embassies serve as a home away from home for their nation’s citizens abroad and how they work to maintain and strengthen bilateral ties. The discussion also covered the responsibilities of diplomats, including negotiating, communicating, and reporting on political, economic, and cultural developments in their host countries.

The students were highly engaged, asking thoughtful questions and expressing their curiosity about the world of diplomacy. Ambassador Annab emphasized the significance of understanding international laws and conventions that govern diplomatic relations, highlighting the Vienna Convention’s role in protecting diplomats and embassies.

The visit aimed to enhance the students’ understanding of international relations and the significance of diplomatic work.

We thank the students for their interest and engagement, recognizing the hard work and dedication they put into their studies, especially as they prepare for their entrance exams.

We look forward to more such enriching exchanges and extend our best wishes to the students in their academic pursuits.
