On Sunday August 6th Ambassador Lina ANANB attended the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Ceremony and paid respect to the souls of the victims of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima that took place 78 years ago on on August 6th, 1945. This year Ambassador ANNAB was honored to be among the assigned members of the diplomatic corps to lay wreath of flowers at the Cenotaph and pray for the souls of victims of the A-Bomb.
ANNAB also had the honor to listen and meet Teruko YAHATA san, survivor “hibakusha” who was 8 years old when she witnessed the horror of the bombing.
A tour of the Peace Memorial Park in Hiroshima was conducted by 14-year old Hana KISHIMOTO, Youth Peace Volunteer, who highlighted the efforts of the City of Hiroshima to keep the memory of the fallen victims alive and to spread a “Culture of Peace” worldwide.
A one-on-one meeting took place with Kaya NAGATANI san and Misato UMEZU, two Junior High School students (Yasunishi JHS and Satsukigaoka JHS) who read and shared their personalized messages of peace to the world.
