AMMAN — Heading the Jordanian delegation, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi on Monday will participate in the third round of the Jordanian-Japanese strategic dialogue meetings.

During the visit, Safadi will prepare for His Majesty King Abdullah’s visit to Japan, scheduled for next April.

Safadi, accompanied by Planning Minister Zeina Toukan, will meet with Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio and Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi as well as a number of Japanese officials to discuss bilateral relations as well as regional and international issues, foremost of which are the Palestinian issue and the Syrian crisis.

Safadi will also deliver a lecture on Jordanian foreign policy at the Middle East Institute of Japan.

The Jordanian foreign minister is set to hold talks at the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Japan, centered on Jordanian-Japanese relations, Jordanian foreign policy priorities and the Kingdom’s efforts to resolve regional crises.

Jordan and Japan agreed to launch strategic dialogue meetings between the two countries’ respective foreign ministers in November of 2018. The first round of talks between the two foreign ministers was held in Amman in December of 2018, and the second round was held in Amman in August 2021.

In 2018, both sides agreed to hold periodic meetings to discuss developing bilateral relations and coordinating positions on regional and international issues of common concern.
