TSUNAGARU MICHINOKU!
On Thursday January 19, Ambassador Lina ANNAB visited Natori City in Miyagi Prefecture where she met with a group of mayors and vice mayors (total of 12) of various cities in Miyagi Prefecture*, representatives from the TOHOKU office of the Ministry of Environment, and members of the local NPO Michinoku Trail Club (MTC).
The meeting was hosted by YAMADA Shiro san, Mayor of Natori city in Miyagi Prefecture.
During this meeting Ambassador ANNAB delivered a talk on outdoor tourism in Jordan and its socio-economic impact on local communities. The talk focused on Jordan’s national trail (The “Jordan Trail”) and the role it plays in attracting tourism to Jordan, and in rural revitalization.
The meeting covered venues of cooperation with the attending municipalities, as well as with the Ministry of Environment and Michinoku Trail Club. Various forms of cultural and people-to-people exchanges were also discussed.
The Michinoku Coastal Trail is among the many massive and multifaceted initiatives of the Government of Japan in its recovery efforts (estimated at $300 billion) in the aftermath of the 2011 Great East Japan triple disasters (earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear accident).
Michinoku Coastal Trail project was spearheaded by Japan’s Ministry of the Environment in 2012 in collaboration with local government agencies and NPOs with the aim of revitalizing affected coastal communities.
Today Michinoku Coastal Trail stretches over 1000 kilometers crossing 29 municipalities; it follows the Pacific Coast from Hachinohe City in Aomori Prefecture to Soma City in Fukushima Prefecture. The name “Michinoku” refers to the ancient name of the Tohoku area and is still familiar as a nickname.
Participants agreed to continue similar meetings and discussions in the efforts to strengthen and further develop bilateral relations.

繋がるみちのく！！
1月19日(木)、リーナ・アンナーブ大使は宮城県名取市を訪問し、県内各市* の市長・副市長(計12名)、環境省東北事務所、NPO法人みちのくトレイルクラブ(MTC)の方々と面会しました。
本件は宮城県名取市の山田司朗市長の主催で行われました。
この会議で、アンナーブ大使はヨルダンのアウトドアツーリズムとその地域社会への社会経済的影響について講演を行いました。
ヨルダントレイルについて、そしてトレイルが観光誘致や地方の活性化に果たす役割に 焦点を当てた講演を行いました。
会議では、参加自治体、環境省、みちのくトレイルクラブとの協力の場について話し合われ、様々な形での文化交 流、人的交流についても話し合われました。
みちのく潮風トレイルは、2011年の東日本大震災(地震、津波、原発事故)の復興に向けた日本政府の大規模かつ 多面的な取り組み(約3000億ドル)の一つです。
みちのく潮風トレイルプロジェクトは、2012年に環境省が主導し、被災した沿岸地域の活性化を目的に、自治体や NPOと連携して実施されたものです。
みちのく潮風トレイルは青森県八戸市から福島県相馬市までの太平洋岸を、29市町村にまたがる1000キロメートル の長さで続いています。
みちのくとは東北地方の古称であり、現在でも愛称として親しまれています。
参加者は、二国間関係を強化し、さらに今後関係を発展させるために、同様の会合や議論を継続することに合意しまし た。
