Tokyo, Monday February 19, 2024 — On Monday February 19, 2024, Jordan’s Prime Minister Dr Bisher Al Khasawneh met in Tokyo with Japan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Yoko Kamikawa.
The meeting highlighted the robust historical ties and strategic partnership between Jordan and Japan, which have flourished over 70 years of diplomatic relations.
Prime Minister Al Khasawneh extended condolences to Japan for the victims of the recent Noto Peninsula Earthquake that struck Ishikawa Prefecture on January 1, 2024, reaffirming Jordan’s readiness to provide assistance under the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II. The meeting underscored Jordan’s deep appreciation for Japan’s steadfast support in various developmental and humanitarian fields. Al Khasawneh commended Japan’s contributions to Jordan’s development and home-grown reform efforts, as well as its humanitarian aid to refugees hosted in Jordan. Prime Minister Al Khasawneh emphasized the significance of maintaining support for UNRWA given the worsening humanitarian situation impacted by the Israeli aggression and war on Gaza, the pressing need for aid in Gaza, and the vital services UNRWA offers in its operational areas in the West Bank, Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria.
Expressing gratitude for Japan’s unwavering assistance, Prime Minister Al Khasawneh acknowledged the pivotal role of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Jordan’s development. He reiterated Jordan’s commitment to fostering closer collaboration with Japan across industrial and trade sectors, aiming to streamline procedures and enhance cooperation. Furthermore, Prime Minister Al Khasawneh extended his appreciation for Japan’s support in Jordan’s reform endeavors, particularly highlighting Japanese assistance through national programs with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). He emphasized the shared commitment of both countries towards achieving lasting peace in the Middle East through a two-state solution, ensuring security, stability, and prosperity for the region’s countries and peoples. Additionally, Prime Minister Al Khasawneh briefed Minister Kamikawa on the relentless efforts of His Majesty King Abdullah II to address the Israeli aggression and war on Gaza and facilitate urgent humanitarian aid. He reiterated Jordan’s stance in support of establishing an independent Palestinian state with full sovereignty, with East Jerusalem as its capital, within the framework of a two-state solution.
In turn, Minister KAMIKAWA reaffirmed Japan’s unwavering support for Jordan and His Majesty King Abdullah II, emphasizing Japan’s commitment to deepening cooperation across various sectors, including political, economic, and security fields. Minister KAMIKAWA expressed Japan’s concerns about the humanitarian situation in Gaza and pledged diplomatic efforts to alleviate suffering and restore calm.
The meeting was attended by Ambassador of Jordan to Japan, Lina Annab, and Ministers of Digital Economy, Entrepreneurship, Investment, Kholoud Al-Saqqaf, Planning, and International Cooperation, Zeina Touqan.
Prime Minister Dr. Bisher Al-Khasawneh accompanied by an official delegation including Ministers of Digital Economy, Entrepreneurship Mr. Ahmad Al Hanandeh, Minister of Investment, Ms. Kholoud Al-Saqqaf, Minister of Planning, and International Cooperation, Ms. Zeina Touqan, are on an official visit to Japan that started on February 15 until February 19th, 2024. The visit is intended for discussions with Japan Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and the cabinet ministers and senior officials on bilateral relations, and ways to support and enhance them in all fields. The year 2024 marks the 70th anniversary on the establishment of diplomatic relations between Jordan and Japan.
التقى رئيس الوزراء الدكتور بشر الخصاونة وزيرة الخارجية اليابانية، يوكو كاميكاوا، وأكد على العلاقات التاريخية والشراكة الاستراتيجية التي تجمع الأردن واليابان اللذان تربطهما علاقات دبلوماسية منذ 70 عاماً.
كما أكد الخصاونة تقدير الأردن للدعم الذي تقدمه اليابان لجهود الأردن التنموية والإصلاحية فضلاً عن المساعدات الإنسانية التي تقدمها اليابان للاجئين الفلسطينيين والسوريين في المملكة.
ولفت إلى أن البلدين تجمعهما العديد من القواسم والقيم ويتشاركان بنفس الهدف في العمل على التوصل إلى سلام دائم في منطقة الشرق الاوسط عبر حل الدولتين وبما يحقق الأمن والاستقرار والازدهار لدول المنطقة وشعوبها.
وأطلع رئيس الوزراء، وزيرة الخارجية اليابانية على الجهود الدؤوبة التي يبذلها جلالة الملك عبدالله الثاني وآخرها جولة جلالته إلى الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية وكندا والعديد من الدول الأوروبية لوقف العدوان الإسرائيلي على غزة وضمان إيصال المساعدات الإنسانية بشكل عاجل ومستدام مؤكداً أن الحل الوحيد لإنهاء الصراع وتحقيق الأمن والاستقرار يتمثل بإقامة الدولة الفلسطينية المستقلة ذات السيادة الكاملة على خطوط الرابع من حزيران عام 1967 وعاصمتها القدس الشرقية وفي إطار حل الدولتين
وقدَّم رئيس الوزراء التعازي لحكومة وشعب اليابان الصديق بضحايا الزلزال الذي ضرب اليابان، أخيراً، مؤكداً تضامن الأردن مع اليابان لتجاوز آثار هذا الزلزال، وأن الأردن وبتوجيهات من جلالة الملك عبدالله الثاني على استعداد لتقديم أية مساعدة ممكنة . بدورها أكدت وزيرة الخارجية اليابانية مواصلة دعم اليابان للأردن ولجلالة الملك عبدالله الثاني ودوره الاساسي في تعزيز الاستقرار في المنطقة لافتة الى ان اليابان عازمة على الاستفادة من الزخم الذي توفره مناسبة مرور 70 عاماً لإقامة العلاقات الدبلوماسية بين البلدين لتعميق التعاون بينهما في العديد من المجالات بما فيها السياسية والاقتصادية والأمنية. وثمنت سياسة الأردن التي تحظى باحترام وتقدير على المستوى الدولي مؤكدة الالتزام بالمزيد من الشراكة الاستراتيجية مع الأردن ودعمها في جميع المجالات. وأعربت عن القلق بشان الأوضاع الإنسانية في قطاع غزة والأعداد الكبيرة من القتلى والجرحى بين الأطفال والنساء وكبار السن مؤكدة أن اليابان تبذل جهوداً دبلوماسية لتحسين الأوضاع الإنسانية وتهدئة الأوضاع في أقرب وقت ممكن
